About Us

Bryan trained as a Painter/Printmaker at Camberwell School of Art in the 1960s and was influenced by the work of the Cubists. This work eventually gave way to a more naturalistic approach and a much brighter palette. Since retiring from his position of Head of Art & Expressive Arts he has devoted much of his time to developing his skills as a printmaker, working with collagraphs, lino prints, woodcuts and monoprints. His most recent work has been in exploring the potential of MDF board as a vehicle for expressive prints. Whilst based on observed images of the landscape the prints are a synthesis of memories rather than portraits of actual places, expressing the force of the land-scape. His work is often experimental, using chance elements and characterised by a strong sense of design and the use of bright colours. He is a member of Gainsborough's House Print Workshop and the Colchester Art Society.
