During training as a graphic artist for a career in advertising he developed an interest in printmaking through lithography and more importantly, lino cutting. After a career in mainstream advertising he has been able to revisit this medium and for the last ten years he has been experimenting with various forms of relief printing and intaglio. Some of the sources used in his work relate to those very early days when an interest in unusual landscape, that is landscape that is dramatised by human activity figured in his work. Other influences come from a professional career in Europe where he spent some leisure time visiting the major art galleries seeing at first hand the influential works of the 20th century. He has a firm belief that poetic content is inherent in good artwork in both the abstract and figurative forms
